iPod touch: pwned for life
March 11, 2009by Chris
Well, you gotta hand it to MuscleNerd and the DevTeam - they did it - the iPod touch 2G has been broken.
And not only that - thanks to "a fatal flaw in the bootrom" the touch 2G can forever be broken -- no matter what firmware Apple releases. This is the untethered jailbreak which will allow you to reboot your device without damage.
The announcement was made yesterday in this thread at the ipodtouch fans forum.
QuickPwn and the Pwnage tools have not yet been updated with the new version, however, if you know what you're doing you can use the download at the link above to update the Pwnage or Xpwn tools (Mac & Windows). If you're a noob at the art, then it's best to wait for a good tutorial or the updated apps to arrive.
What a great day it is to own an iPod 2G! It is a sure thing that Apple will update the bootrom in future generations of the iPhone and touch, perhaps so secure that an untethered jailbreak is an impossibility. Nah, DevTeam will find a way.
