Nostalgia 5: Flawless Intellivision Emulator

March 16, 2009by Chris

Nostalgia 5 is the most current version of the best Intellivision Emulator available today. It was created and is maintained by Joe Fisher at shiny-technologies.com.

Nostalgia is freeware and should play all games in the Intellivision library. It supports netplay with the Kaillera client, joystick/keyboard mapping, and has fullscreen and windowed views.

In order to play commercial ROMs, the exec.bin and grom.bin files are required - which are not included with the emulator download for copyright reasons.

You can get the files here but please don't send your lawyers after me, Mattel doesn't sell the Intellivision anymore nor are any games for sale, there is no money to be made and these items really should be exempt from copyright law.

The emulator will run without the copyright roms - the homebrew games/apps/demos will operate but little if any commercial roms will run.

Setup
1. download the emulator archive, uncompress
2. download exec.zip & grom.zip, uncompress and place the bin files into the emulator directory.
4. find some roms or use the roms that come with the emulator, place roms in roms directory of emulator.
5. launch the emulator and set the ROMs directory to where you decompressed the emulator followed by the roms dir (just browse and set)
6. enjoy the experience
